That is way cool! Always a kick in the pants when a celebrity shows up every so often and sings karaoke. Last May Blake Lewis (Season 6 American Idol runner-up) showed up at our local karaoke bar and had a blast 8) He was in town attending a wedding that weekend.

Bigdog...After reading many of your previous posts here in the forum I admit I am somewhat surprised that you let this idiot sing and shoot darts at the same time. I have always been under the impression that you kept a pretty tight rein over your show. I know he was drunk and the boyfriend of one o...

In my experience, if you want to "rock this place," Billy Joel is not the solution 8) Here are a few that do the job (in no particular order): 1. You Give Love A Bad Name (Bon Jovi) 2. Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard) 3. You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC) 4. Old Time Rock 'N' Roll (Bob...

Duets

I wasn't able to find anything on the subject of duets using search...at least as it relates to the rotation...so I am wondering how you all handle duets in your rotations? The shows that I have worked will usually charge the first singer listed on the request slip with their rotation turn, but I ha...

Usually there are no more than 2 or 3 kids that want to sing, so that has never been a problem. I do see what you mean, though, with 20+ kids...wow!

Just some observations on this subject: 1. Song repeats. When I KJ, and this also goes for the KJ's that I work for as well, and someone puts in a song request for a song that has already been done...I will let them know that it has already been played that night. If they still want to sing it, fine...

I have had people from time to time ask to be moved up in the rotation due to having to leave because of babysitter issues, etc. I will usually move them up as close as I can to the time that they say they have to leave by (i.e., someone has to leave by 11 PM, so I bring them up around 10:50 or so)....

If I am subbing for the regular KJ I will usually put myself in the rotation last...that way those folks that are paying attention know that I am almost back to the top of the rotation. When I am not KJ'ing it has almost become a tradition of sorts to have me sing the first song, so no matter what (...

Tip Jar

I have worked for a couple of local KJ's here in Napa, filling in at their regular gigs from time to time...they both have used a tip jar, some nights are great tip nights, other nights there are no tips at all. I don't think tipping a KJ in any way undercuts the tips that bartenders and/or serving ...
