Re: Computer vs Disc Player Poll

I am the dinosaur in the room here, running a frankensystem rack that includes a hard drive into an scdg player, a cdg player, a CD player, and an iPhone. The hard drive is 90 percent of my music but I still play some discs. I run break music requests off the iPhone, between singer songs off the CD ...

well if half the public believes as big dog does regardless of the evidence we will still see a major drop in karaoke participation. we dont have to convince bigdog for us to stay in business we have to convince our singers. that includes education: never put ur hands on the mic. keep ur mouth off i...

the perception is our concern as far as business is concerned. ebola panic will most certainly affect karaoke. its scary and its here. and its one more reason for people to stay home.

The new Acesonic players have a front USB input. I have been slowly..very slowly...putting my newer CDGS onto flashdrive for this. the player itself rps your songs to flashdrive at 4x speed, so figure 15 to 20 intues per disc,

The trick is to develop a rapport with your singers, and to quickly make new singers feel welcome and at home. Personal service really is the only arrow in the quiver when it comes to the little guy versus the corporations. karaoke is no different. I have more trouble from the pirates, guys that hav...

Intriguing stuff. My hard drive is all SCDG-based including the six chartbuster essential scdgs that got me those 2700 songs for, well, a song. Today, my library is a hodgepodge of hard copy including cdgs, scdgs, and even some extremely weird vcds...i even have some playboy karaoke dvds (boobs and ...

ROTATIONS are one of the biggest debate points among KJs, I am what you call a read-the-room kind of host. If my all-night-long singers have already sand three-five times, I expect them to welcome some new talent slipped into the rotation...i try to promote camaraderie over competition, and also try...

Hmmm...who says it's the barowner who has to plan/provide prize promos? KJs can do it, too. A little PR with area businesses or even just hitting some fleamarkets or garage sales can yield prizes for nothing or damn near it. CDs, comics, jewlery, tshirts, caps...all easy to come by.

Do any of the hosting programs mentioned in this thread have TEMPO CONTROL? It seems that every show in my area running from laptop does not offer this very simple and useful feature. I get that what-do-u-mean look and then the you-mean-pitch-control-? response. meanwhile, my ancient external-hard-d...

I just bring my discs as backup to all my shows along with my hard drive. The new music i have been buying are discs off ebay - singer solution/fastrax/quikhitz/pophits - no complaints on the tuneage so far. I haven't bothered putting them on my harddrive yet( which is comprised of chartbuster, swee...

guess i am the odd man out, as is often the case here on K-T Forum. If i think a singer will benefit from a little more or a little less reverb I will adjust. My feeling is the bar owner isn't just paying me for my gear and roadie muscles, he's paying for my ears as well and has placed confidence in...
