I agree ... if a person really needs help to find a song I have no problem helping them. I like the ones that come up with a few of the words to the song and we have to figure out what it is; challenges are a good thing. You shouldn't have to rush the other singers or not be able to "entertain...

I don't mind searching for songs for singers that truly need the help. But the ones who know the song and/or artist take up more time than needed, so I end up not helping to " entertain " or having to rush the others. Hopefully it will be done in the next cpl weeks.

Well, I convinced the owner to axe the reserved lists. Some are not happy about it, but they seem to be accepting it. Another pet peeve of mine, is not having up to date books. I have about 15K extra songs on the hard drive that are not in the book yet. So I announce that, and end up spending so muc...

The parent company of the discs on that site, that I looked into, are by a HOME entertainment company, so likely not licensed for commercial play. They are being a bit more strict in Canada about licensed discs, so I would not take the chance. It's not just a fine you get here, they seize all your e...

I love the idea of co-hosts. One on machine, one out front. But in smaller venues like mine, that just isn't going to happen..lol I always sing the first song as I have to make sure of sound. This place opens at noon and the room is small so it changes soo much from empty and full and, this system r...

Rotation size and song lists and more

OK, here's a question or 2... First, a little background. The bar I KJ for is a smaller neighborhood Sports Bar and Grill but the "Grill" closes when my show starts. 75% or the clientele know each other. Very diverse crowd. Show is 5 hrs. 9 till 2 Fri. Sat. It's one of the older Karaoke ve...

My audience is soo mixed. They mostly seem to love it when I walk around playing my mic like a guitar or trumpet, but a few give me dirty looks when they sing. Problem is, the ones that love it would want to join in if I had other toys. So could be a problem in the making. But I think I'm gonna get ...

OUTSIDE of the fact that some venues are open to all ages....That's not the venue I was talking about. So..... In a BAR, that's fine for your show, if that's what your customers are willing to settle for or if kids have access. But take a look around you. That's not the case in MOST venues. Just bec...

I have to add, $50 to $125 is for Club work with company equipment. For using my own stuff, I start at $200 and go up according to what I need. Karaoke for a wedding here runs $400 to $1200. depending on if dinner music is needed etc.

If you had the money, I would suggest a CAVS Deluxe. It does all that and you can up-date the songs on-live as it is fully internet enabled, just need a wifi receiver. $20 part. It is very automated including having built in audience clapping..lol It's really just a comp dedicated to Karaoke. But, t...

ChartBusters for sure for country. I prefer Sound Choice and a cpl of smaller companies for SOUND quality, but they had more mistakes for words and radio versions. Most singers seem to care about the words more than sound, so I went with SGB. But I understand SGB has been bought out, so may be a moo...

I use the highest bit rate available to that program. ( comes from being a Studio Tech.) EQing can help with sound depending on the EQ source. But, be careful you don't OVER EQ, as that can make it worse..lol My mixer at the club, is a Karaoke/DJ mixer and does a very nice job of key change. The key...

That's really a hard question to answer. They all have good and bad versions. But as a general rule, "Sweet Georgia Brown" was more consistent with quality. Now, I understand Pop Hits Monthly is the one to get. I haven't bought discs in a cpl years. I use a CAVS and the club owners do the...

Be VERY careful. Only about 5% of the sites you find selling down loadable Karaoke, are Legal. The problem is, NOT all CDG disks are licensed for paid public performances. Some, are knock-offs and are completely illegal, and some CDG disks you buy at the corner store are not intended for a paid perf...
