hi i think my machine doesnt support mp4 as will play on computer.can i convert the mp4 file using another program so it will play on karaoke system please

Hi all can someone help me please i have a karaoke file which is in mp4 format on my laptop. i am trying to put it on a cdr so i can play it on my karaoke machine.ive tried to do this but i only manage to get the music on the cdr but not the words.can anyone tell me how i get both music and words on...
