I think Yorkville puts out a great speaker. Light weight and clear. I also think RCF (maker of old Mackie Speakers) have great clarity and decent low -end.
You may want to check out QSC. They are very popular right now and make a good product at an affordable price.

Did you try re-installing it? Had the same problem a while back and it has worked like a charm since.

I will not do any gig for under 200.00. I work too damn hard to charge any less. With setup and tear down plus website work, facebook, myspace, etc. were talking 6 to7 hours per show. I get really bothered sometimes when I lose a gig to an undercutting pirate but there's no better feeling than when ...

Yeah, it's happening down here in Fla. too. If I had to guess I would say about 80% of the kj's in my area are pirates. They all boast of having 100,000 songs on their websites, etc. It's pretty annoying and has definitely brought down the price of paying gigs. Bigdog is right on about quality. Most...

I love private parties. I actually prefer them to bar gigs. To me, it's much easier to please people at a private party than at the clubs. For one, there's no manager telling you to turn the music down or up. You dont have to worry about how many people are there or whose spending money, etc. If the...

wiseguy stole my thunder. While most venue owners only care about the bottom line, singers do care about the equipment. They also care about song selection and fair rotation.

I'm currently at 2 sports bars and understand first hand the problems that arise when football or basketball, etc are coming on. When Orlando was in the NBA finals this year one of the venue managers tried to postpone are start time by an hour and a half. This paticular venue is our busiest karaoke ...

I kinda have mixed feelings about the mics. On one hand, I like the idea of corded mics to keep the singer within range, etc. I also like the idea of
wireless mics too as to have less wires and cords hanging around for people to trip on. I have both right now and just cant decide.

The trivia I'm talikg about is on different nights than my karaoke shows but at the same location. Its usually general trivia covering just about everything. Prizes are awarded and its usually 4 to 6 people per team. Its caught on rather quickly down here and seems like it could be fun. Maybe I'll c...

It amazes me the sheer lethargic mentality of the venue owner/managers I work for. It seems as if once they secure me as entertainment they do little or nothing to help promote karaoke night. It's always me who designs and purchases table tents, or suggests calling distributors for free banners, t-s...

Trivia night is rearing it's ugly head around here and seems to be making a pretty sizable dent in the venues I'm doing and hope of doing. The others you mention have had little impact here as of yet.
Most of my custies want to sing and nothing more. We'll see what happens down the road.

Bummer! Sorry about the rough night. Most say don't bring your work home but in this business it's dont bring your personal life to work. It's not an easy task, especially given the current circumstances that you are facing. It sounds like this "deli" is becoming quite the "night club...

Sabrina, I can't help but think your being taken advantage of. I know you care about your singers and it's a very admirable quality but at what cost? It appears you're being manipulated beyond belief. Is your time not a valueable commodity? Every kj takes it upon themselves to extend the show a few ...
