When I find the "mousetrap" that works I stay with it. I've used the same sound system and software for years. I won't play YouTube videos or other people's discs and I don't make excuses for it. I even have a "don't even ask me" sign I display.

Nobody is going to be able to help you when you supply so little information. Are we supposed to guess the equipment you are using?

Is there ANYONE out there that has a hard copy of the software? I suppose I would need all the updates after the copy as well. The Harbingers are entry level speakers and are like toys compared to the EVs. If price is not a concern you would be very happy with the EV ZXA1 speakers. In my opinion the next step down in both price and quality would be the Yamaha DBR10 speakers at about $400 apiece.

There really is no need to ever run into this type of problem. I have all my music backed up in the zipped MP3+G format to archive grade DVDs and three separate hard drives.If I would ever need to convert to another format I would never replace the originals.
