The cheesy dancing barbie doll chorus shows up in the BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY VCD as well...I always run that track when I have a bunch of drunk singers wanting to rock that song. Its not too horrible and it has guide vocals. Much humorousness. };=D

Bigdog you complain about your shows dying but you steadfastly refuse to evolve to let in even a little dance music? Did it ever occur to you even singers like to dance once in a while? Or that dancers might also want to sing? You are SO sure your way is the only way that works yet now that it isn't...

My recommendation to bar owners is this: $2 soda, $2 bottled water, $2 juice, and at least one domestic beer on special for $2. let the customer choose, chances are they will go with the beer special. If not, all the better for the bar.

My suggestion to anyone wanting to get into the karaoke business is DON'T! Lol...if you still aren't dissuaded, then go to ebay or karaoke online retailers and buy some karaoke discs and build up your hard-drive the LEGAL way. Discs are sooooo cheap now, being closed-out by so many distributors. You...

If a new KJ comes on the scene and has to pay $100 a month to legally access music he/she is at a disadvantage to the KJ who already has a large library of music owned and only has to update. Of course, the advantage dwindles if said new KJ can offer any song at a moment's notice whereas the KJ who ...

Wow... I haven't been on here in a while and it seems the forum has evolved into a political discussion about the economy and how it relates to the karaoke nightlife business. Bigdog appears to be on the red team while Wiseguy appears to be on the blue team. I have long ago stepped back from that ma...

Well if the freeloaders are in the extreme minority they are sort of helping by being bodies and making the club seem full. If it gets to where everyone in the bar is water-boarding that's a problem which chips or covers won't fix.

SONGBOOKS ON YOUR PHONES

I finally broke down and ordered a smartphone - a Nokia E5 blackberry-type from straighttallk.com for $40. It's supposedly an entreprenuer-oriented phone so it comes with business functions, notably a 5MP camera (huge for a phone) and Excel, which is what my books are on. I have already made my song...

Cmon wiseguy "tweaking the mix" and "censoring" are two different things. I don't censor, and I treat challenged with extra kindness and care. As any sound engineer will tell you, a "bad" or "harsh" signal of exactly the same decibels as "good" or &q...

@bigdog- I read the entire brief of the 12/5 lawsuits filed in homestate of North Carolina, I don't think I missed anything. SoundChoice's strategy seems to be to go after multiple-system operators (45 defendants, onlu four operators) which seems like a sound choice to me as these big guns would be ...

Respectfully disagree. The bad singer is likely to feel worse if everyone leaves the room during his song than if I tweak his mix a little bit.

My hard drive doesn't have any soundchoice or chartbuster on it yet, but it sure will eventually. i bring the actual SC and CB discs to my shows. Just finished loading the SGBs and a few other brands, lack of time is my enemy. I bring all my discs to every show for backup reasons in any case. For al...
