Ugh, I do get annoyed by the folks who want to run up and sing every song with the person who signed up for it without asking them first. When I know I've got someone like this in the crowd, I mute the mics between singers and only un-mute the ones that are in use. I won't un-mute for the rogue sing...

Sorry to say Dan, you are caught between a rock and a hard place. I don't see how you can be charged with enforcing that people must drink to be in the establishment, that's the bar's job. You're not a representative of the bar, you're a paid entertainer working for the bar. It's their job to make s...

"Same with the old Audio Technica Microphones I used to buy. Now the Shures are cold too. " I assume you're talking about tone and by cold you actually mean bright (bright being the opposite of warmth in audio terms). If so, I'm very surprised by this. The Shure SM58 is the single most pop...

1. My best shows are when I have about 15-20 singers each putting in a couple requests. It's a good pace and keeps things fresh without having to hear the same people sing over and over again. These are usually the shows where i have the most people dancing and the whole place just gets buzzin'. Lik...

I'm a firm believer in doing what works for you. We each have our own shows and run them in a way that fits our personality. For me, no I don't use props. I have seen it done and toy'ed with the idea of it but realized that the way I work my shows, it just wouldn't fit. Sounds like for you it's a go...

You have all dodged the answer to the question. Sounds like you're running for office. Why do you feel you need these songs of questionalble content? How does it enhance your show to have them included? And why don't you care about the possibilty of offending some in your audience? Actually big d, ...

I don't know big dawg, my experience has been when the word N***er is in a song, it's almost exclusively by an artist who's African American (save for Eminem and maybe one or two others). I've yet to see someone get pissed off because someone else sang the song the way the original artist performed ...

I don't know bd, your world is a very different place from the one I live and work in. Uncensored songbooks = bar fights and concealed weapons????? Seriously?? As far as the singers, again your world is very different. At one of my regular shows, one of the most popular singers is a guy who sings &q...

Tricerasoft's CDG Ripper is probably the best software I've seen for ripping CD+G's to MP3+G's. It works with more drives, even ones that have been labelled as not supporting CD+G by other software. I'd recommend checking that out. I believe they have a trial version that you can download and make s...

If I felt there was anything the Bartender could/would do that would affect my reputation and my show I might be concerned. But again, I let my work speak for itself. If someone who doesn't like Karaoke anyway bad mouths Karaoke, so what? Doesn't affect me and they don't typically run in the circles...

I just do my job and deal with it. People who come to sing Karaoke aren't going to walk out because the bartender doesn't like Karaoke. He'll get his own bad rep by saying that to folks that are there for Karaoke and it will hurt his tips. I let the quality of my show speak for itself. Case in point...

PC2700 should work in a machine that requires PC2100. Having memory that's faster than required isn't an issue, having slower memory is.

BigDog, she's not talking about Vocal Effects (Reverb, Delay, etc) she's talking about actual sound effects (like in a cartoon). You should be able to search the web for .wav files of different sound effects and find tons for free download. Use Google, it is a wonderful tool.

That's what I said I was going to do, I'll be telling him I'll go the first few weeks at a lower rate and then put a specific date on when it goes up. If I decide to give something back once it's gone up if the crowds aren't there, that will be my decision, but I'm not even putting that one on the t...
