Karaoke upgrade question?

Post by Davelegge »

I need some help! I have an entry level system from East Midlands Karaoke for my home/small venue, and it's great, but obviously limited. Whole system was £300 and now I want to upgrade.
So the question is, should I get 2 x active speakers,
2 x wireless mics
Mixer
My budget is £500 - and it will be for village hall/pub type gigs.
One other rhing is that I currently have an SD card and am thinking about hard drive & software? Is it worth it?

Would you provide a link to the exact system you have now?

Hi wiseguy and thanks for he reply. I can't do the link, but it's the £299 package from East Midlands Karaoke. There is a Starsinger Player, and a Pulse Mixer/Amp with 2 passive speakers. It must be a low cost package and I'm not too sure where the cost is - maybe the player?
I'm keen to get 2 x active speakers - maybe 12", and a 4 mic mixer?

The Yamaha mg10xu mixer is a good mixer.

This is the only system that matches your description http://www.emkaraoke.co.uk/contents/en- ... ckage.html

So in essence what you want to do is replace the powered mixer and passive speakers with an audio mixer and powered speakers... right? The Yamaha mg10xu is certainly the better mixer but trying to stay within your budget you might opt for the Behringer XENYX 1202FX mixer and a pair of Mackie Thump 12 PA speakers.

May thanks Wiseguy, much appreciated and I will look at the suggestions - all the reviews suggest that's a good selection for the budget.

I have one of those players and if you get any of the Mr Entertainer or zoom mp3+g discs, you can play those on it.
