Solution for our Yamaha Stagepas 500

Post by Knifebld »

Hello all,

My wife and I have been using a pair of the Yamaha Stagepas 500 speakers which include a powered mixer.

Unfortunately the mixer is giving us some serious static on one channel to the point that we cannot 'live' with it anymore.

My question is what would you recommend that would be compatible with the Yamaha speakers...or would it be best to change them altogether? And where is a good place to shop for equipment? (Live in Montreal, but I can pick up in the States).

We love hosting Karaoke parties...but must admit to not being very knowledgeable about the hardware piece...

Thanks for the help!

If you've been happy with the system why not simply get it repaired? It's almost certainly just one of the controls that has gone bad. The powered mixer, which is matched to the speakers, outputs a total of 500 watts. A good replacement powered mixer would be the Yamaha EMX312SC. I see no need to drive to some location to buy these items when Amazon will deliver them to your door in a a few days at a price you probably won't be able to beat locally.

Makes sense Wiseguy...but I do have an option to buy the following;

USED Yorkville MM6 - $150
(http://yorkville.com/legacy/powered_mixers/product/mm6/)

NEW Behringer PMP550M - $290
(https://www.amazon.ca/Behringer-PMP550M ... ered+mixer)

Just not sure if either will work with the Stagepass 500 speakers I have...(yup that's how green I am!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Yorkville is way underpowered. The Behringer PMP-500 has the same power output as the Stagepas powered mixer and should work fine.

Upgrade to a more expensive set of equipment. Cheap usually sound bad.
