Hi there, Parker.
First, welcome to the forum.

Second, if you haven't already purchased your copy of Sax & Dotty, DON'T!!!!!

It's a pain in the butt as it's configured in such a way that you can ONLY use it on one PC at a time. You can't have a backup PC without buying 2 licences.

Also, it needs Winamp PLUS two plugin modules to work.

I'm not at my home PC just now but as far as I can remember, there should be an option in one of the menu's for database maintenance.

Click that and select "Import tracks"

Browse to the folder you have your Karaoke tracks stored and when the import is complete, select "Transfer to database".

This will result in your list showing in the main window.

To convert standard CD+G discs to MP3+G, your need a ripper program but if you have Hoster, I thought there is a ripper built in? Someone with more knowledge of Hoster, please jump in anytime

If it doesn't, look at Power Karaoke Burner, here;

http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_powercdgburner.php

Now, back to your player.

If you haven't already bought S'nD, I'd recommend Justkaraoke instead, here;

http://www.tricerasoft.com/karaoke_soft ... raoke.html

Better than S'nD and half the price.

Hopw this helps,

Click tools

Database

Import

click the small button beside the blank area at the top of the window.

Find your music file.

I have to make sure I can see the actual disc file numbers in the window.

Then click on GET TRACKS

When that's finished click TRANSFER TO MAIN.

Close everything and you should see the track count in the middle right above the queue area.

Sax & Dotty uses 2 plug ins....one is Win Amp and the other does your key change. They are free.

Whenever you want to add new songs to your hard drive you will need to delete or clear your data base and then re import all the songs. Make sure the track count area is blank when you delete your database. And when you're finished importing make sure the number count is correct. If it looks too big you could have accidentally imported twice. Delete and reimport.

Thanks for the accurate update Bigdog!

However, unless S'n D has changed since the version I have, it needs Winamp + TWO plugins.

One is Pacemaker, the keychanger you mention above but it also needs a Karaoke plugin, also obtainable on the Winamp website, in order to display the graphics.

Please ignore if I'm wrong.

Sandy you are correct on the plugins.
Now if they want to convert from Hoster's files then they need either Songverter or Powerkaraoke CDG burner. Hoster's files will NOT play in Sax & Dotty's.

I'm using their second edition. I don't like the layout of their newest one.

Is there one file type that is considered the main format?

Is hoster doing something to exculde their files from being used in other software?

The format they rip to is KMA which is a proprietory format MTU came up with so that they can't be used in just any player.

Songverter will convert KMA files to MP3+G and other formats.

Thanks for the advise. Unfortunatly she has already purchased and installed Sax-N-Dotty (which came highly recommended by several other KJ's in the area). As I stated in my original post I am not computer savvy so please forgive my repeated questions. If I purchase Power Karaoke CDGBurner or Songverter will I still need the plug-in's to make the songs work with S-N-D?

Do you still need the plug ins with the JustKaraoke program?

A resounding NO!

Justkaraoke does it all, by itself. No plugins, nothing!
