If you get a amp and mixer seperate should the amp have more power than the speakers. If I have 300 watt speakers what size amp do I need. And also it seems that a mixer/amp they dont have high wattage
You will rarely push your speakers to their maximum watt handling. They wouldn't last very long if you did. You should choose a fairly powerful amp. I would suggest no less than 1000 watt total output. You may need the extra power if you ever add more speakers to the system (as for outdoor performances).
I've been a professional KJ for over 15 years and I have always preferred a powered mixer (mixer/amp). And yes, they come in very powerful models. Among my favorites are the Mackie 808S and the Peavey XR696F. Powered mixers make setup easier, are easier to use, and produce just as good sound quality as any separate mixer-amp combination.
