New and clueless about Karaoke

Post by petcbr »

Hi,

Ive just had a Sunfly Pro 888 Karaoke machine for christmas.

I am currently running it through the television which as you can imagine is a shocking sound.

What do i need to buy for a great Parties at home sound. Im getting confused with all the talk of speaker, amps and mixers????

All i want is something that sounds better than my tv

Thanks

Hi petcbr,
welcome to the madhouse.

TV amps are actually quite good but their speakers are small and pretty useless. Unfortunately, most people think that lots of bass means the speakers are good.

This is not true and is only part of the overall sound spectrum.

For home use and I DO stress for HOME USE, you will be looking at a reasonably compact setup, I assume, unless your "party" room is huge.

My recommendation would be to get a small 4 to 6 channel mixer and a couple of powered speakers, i.e. they have amps built in.

Realistically, you should be able to pick up a 4 channel mixer and a couple of 8 inch powered speakers quite cheaply on Ebay.

Apart from appropriate leads and microphones, that's all you'll really need for a home setup.

If you're only going to run home Karaoke, don't go overboard on kit.

Have fun,

Sandy.
