Relicensing of songs.

I recently ordered a custom disc. The disc arrived cracked in about 30 places. Some of the songs are back ordered.

I emailed the company and they are rushing out a replacement disc. But what is interesting from their email is...the company they get the songs from has to relicense EVERY song.

Wonder if that has anything to do with format shifting? I highly doubt every song's license ran out at the same time. Because they were not all produced at the same time. Unless they aquired them from whomever at one time.

I always assumed they bought the rights for "X" amount of copies. Sorta like ASCAP does it.
