Snow Storm cancellation

Post by Bigdog »

Over the years there have been snowy nights that I wish the show was cancelled.

Tonight was one of them. They still wanted to do Karaoke. So I got ready to leave early for the 30 mile drive.

I drove about 3 blocks. Barely getting any traction and sliding though every stop sign. I almost wrecked twice being unable to stop.

Tonight was the most dangerous road conditions I have encountered in 17 years.

I had to call them to say I couldn't make it. I didn't even want to take the chance.

The snow is falling at 2 inches an hour. That has to be a new one for me too. I have heard about 1 inch an hour in our area but never 2.

I highly doubt that cancelling was a mistake. The show must go on but there has to be an alive KJ to do it.

I have it known that if a heavy snow storm happens before the show that I won't be in. If it starts after I get there then if it really is bad I have had to sit it out waiting for the plows to get a chance to clear things up. If I know ahead of time that a big one is coming I will call and cancel. The rates they pay ain't worth wrapping my car around a tree or worse hitting another car.

18-20 inches..

I won't be going again tonight. WE have a State of Emergency. Meaning unnecessary driving is illegal.

Besides that it will take a while to dig out the van and driveway.

Feel free to send some of that snow my way, BD. I sure miss it! Hopfully you'll get a break in the weather soon so you can get back to work. In the meantime, be careful.

Worked tonight after the Super Bowl. The crowd was surprisingly big for the late start. :D

Another storm coming Tuesday...

We dodged the bullet in the last storm with only 8 inches on the ground. Just 100 miles north there were reports of over 30 inches. Hoping to luck out again with this storm.

My new snow blower delivery has been postponed due to emergency conditions beyond UPS control.

Blizzard conditions caused another cancellation tonight. Another 8-10 inches.

Got lucky here too although the one booking I had rescheduled to two weeks from tonight. The storm bare left a dent and I received my new speakers at 4:30 this afternoon via UPS.
