Hardware - Speakers and Mixer BR 12's

Post by Tatton »

opt 1 - Yamaha EMX 312SC Powered Mixer w/Pair Of Yamaha BR12 12" Speakers

1. Would this suit for portable karaoke gig?
2. I have an opportunity to grab the mixer and pair of speakers, used, for $625. Good deal?

opt 2 - Before seeing this, I was looking at getting a Mackie FX12 with USB input for mixer, and a pair of 15" Alto powered speakers new. This would run me $438 for the pair of speakers, and $279 for the mixer. ($717)

Keeping around the same money or better, would you advise to an opt 3?

Thanks!

The Yamaha combo would be great for your family room but way under powered for a pro setup. The Mackie FX12 is a nice mixer but I've never heard of the the Alto powered speakers. At the price they go for I wouldn't expect much from them.

The minimum Yamaha setup I would go with would be the Yamaha EMX512SC powered mixer and a pair of Yamaha S115V speakers. Preferably a sub-woofer would be added to this.

A pair of Mackie Mackie Mackie HD1521]HD1521 powered speakers would be a good match for the FX12. Again adding a sub-woofer would be a good idea.
