Karaoke microphone or mixer problems

Hi I have a 2000 Audio AKM701 Karaoke echo mixer and a Shure SM58 microphone. I've had them for about 3 yrs. I am a menber of singsnap.com All of a sudden my microphone is not working. I figured it was the XLR cable, so I purchased one and nothing happened. I've tried plugging the 1/4 in male into all 3 mic sockets and nothing happens. What I want to know is how can I tell whether it is the microphone or the mixer that went bad? I would really appreciate some help. Thank You, Doralee

The SM58 is a really tough microphone and usually lasts for many years. If you take it a local electronics dealer they will test it for you. If there is nothing wrong with it you will know the problem is with the mixer.
