Hooking a Microphone to RCA?

Hi All:
Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm trying to DIY a KTV system at home with my TV, DVD player, and mics. Now I got most of everything set up, kareoke DVD discs, the machine would read and queue up songs, save one problem: there is no microphone plug on any of the machines!

Now, it seems silly to me to run out and buy an amp just to plug the microphone into the TV. I've gone to radio shack and got some 1/4" -> RCA adapters but they don't seem to do the trick. It seems the microphone needs get power from the source...

So how can I hook the mic to the TV so i can finish my KTV setup? I'm trying to spend the least amount money getting this ready, if I do need something of an amp, what is the cheapest i can get and where can I get it??? THANKS!!!!!

Wal-mart has aDurabrand 5 disc dvd/karaoke player for around 60.00.
