Going Digital, hum out of headphone jack-loopback protector?

Post by justakj »

Hi,

We're going digital and we seem to have everything working almost to satisfaction. We're coming up on a bind with some bookings, though, and I need to bump the first use of the digital system up to this Saturday. Not much time. Everything looks good, but there is a humming/hissing sound coming out of the speakers. I know it is caused by the line coming from the headphone jack to the mixer.

I thought I had found a solution in here one time (before it was a problem for us) but I can't seem to find that post now. I remember something about a loopback power protector or something like that.

I can give full system specs if needed; just let me know. Or if there is something I can just run out and buy that would be fine. I need to get the hum gone and practice with my kids in the basement tonight so I'm comfortable with the system come Saturday.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

GO to Radio Shack

Get a noise suppressor isolation transformer. Get one to match the connectors you use. I'm assuming they are RCA.

1/8" head phone to RCA. (HOOK IT UP HERE) RCA to mixer.

Good Luck.
