One more piece of equipment

I have given up on the digital mixer. Not because I don't know how to use it. I figured that out. I have watched in the last few months, a company having nightmares of keeping their mixers connected to their tablets. I didn't get a digital mixer to use another laptop to control it connected via Ethe...

Re: Final system setup

Okay after watching my friend's company having issues connecting their tablets to their digital mixers, same model that I have now, I have decided to forgo the digital mixer and stay analog. My equipment outgrew the car that I have so I am buying one thst should, if I put the equipment in right, fit...

Re: Karaoke on a Budget - Recs?

Better to send all audio through the mixer and out to the powered speakers, assuming that they are Pro Audio speakers never send live vocals through home audio equipment. I would go with the Stage Pass, myself. You don't need majorly powerful speakers, the Stagepass speakers will be more than adequa...

Re: Karaoke styles

I use style 2. But how long i play it between singers depends on how many singers are in the rotation. As often happens at the start of the show might only be 4 singers so I'll let the filler play longer, by the time rotation reaches 10 or more then its just to fill dead air till the next singer is...

Re: Karaoke styles

There's karaoke with DJ mixed in (like #3) and then there's DJ with karaoke mixed in (like #4). The problem is that some hosts don't know the difference and misrepresent what they actually do. Let me add a #5 to this which for me is the worst of all. This is the KJ who thinks it's his/her job to en...

Karaoke styles

I have noticed that there are at least four styles of Karaoke, three of them, I actually have little to no problem with. Style #1: traditional straight karaoke. Moves from one Karaoke performer to the next without any use of DJ music Style#2: filler music Uses snippets of DJ music in between singers...

Re: VirtualDJ

Got Siglos working again but have decided against it and will stick with JustKaraoke because for some reason even with the onscreen keyboard setting in use, you can only search with it. You get to the submit page to enter your name and key change and the onscreen keyboard is nowhere to be seen, not ...

Re: VirtualDJ

Well, got Siglos working fully only to screw it up by trying to test out Compuhost using the theory that if Siglos is finally accepting my MP4s that maybe I can get Compuhost to do the same. Should've just left things alone, just wanted a better looking kiosk interface than Siglos. I found it with J...

Re: Final system setup

Won't be using the analog mixer after all. I mounted my xr12 digital mixer into the R104 rack. My wireless Headset receiver antenna broke so I ended up purchasing a new Samson Concert 88 headset wireless mic system. I have my dual and single Behringer digital handheld wireless mics mouted just above...

Re: VirtualDJ

Siglos doesn't play any of my karaoke MP4s. Their filler player sucks too. No real control in it. No way to shut it down while inside the rotation cleanly. I don't play music between karaoke songs, I ay them between rotations.

Final system setup

I am using a SKB R104 rack to house most of my equipment. The only pieces of my equipment that won't stay in my rack is the mixer and my laptop. I have it setup so that I can replace the digital mixer if it fails me with my analog mixer. That mixer doesn't have any effects built-in so I will have a ...

Re: VirtualDJ

Because the only good filler player is in OpenKJ. The next best in crappy Compuhost which even with its own codec pack doesn't consistently play any video format whatsoever. And I can't play any other player beside it. Even though I do like dex 3 Pro. The closest thing to it is VirtualDJ. It actuall...

Re: VirtualDJ

Linux was missing software that I needed for DJ only shows, I needed something that played more than audio. Coming back Windows, I discovered that the creator of OpenKJ can't seem to keep his certificate up to date so I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and go with a software that can handle bi...

VirtualDJ

I have settled on VirtualDJ as my player for a couple of reasons. I can easily add and play my buy on the fly songs without putting them in their final folders and they have a remote request system that allows my singers to browse my songlist and send a request to the player. Yes it's missing an aut...

Re: I am done. No more equipment.

Thought I was done. Went to a friend's show that was using the same digital mixer that I have. Inspired me to look at a digital mixer again, this time I wanted one to fit in my slant top rack. Turns out discovering the new Sennheiser units that converts wired mics to wireless got me realizing that t...
