Karaoke at Home

home karaoke system

Thanks for dropping by! Performing karaoke at home has become so popular that I decided to dedicate a separate section of the Karaoke-Tutor.com site specifically to this subject. Per usual I will try to avoid using a lot of technical jargon and explain things in terms that you should have no problem following. Forgive me if that sounded condescending, it wasn't meant to. It's just that most people who come here are karaoke novices who just want some direct answers.

You may be thinking, as many people do, that you can simply connect a karaoke player or a laptop to your home stereo system, add a microphone or two and some karaoke music, and you're ready for a karaoke party. I'm afraid that unless you like "quiet" karaoke parties you are going to be disappointed. Your home stereo may rock out standard music but when you add live vocals it just won't hold up. In fact, those surround sound speakers will most likely give out.

What you can learn here is how to put together a great sounding home karaoke system that will rival those at the karaoke bars. You will be able to be the KJ of your own rockin' karaoke party right in your own home!

Every karaoke system consists of seven basic components. The player, mixer, amplifier, speakers, microphone, monitor, and music. There are many things to consider when putting all these together to create your ideal home system.

We will discuss the various player options such as disc players, hard drive players, and computer with software. Information on the pros and cons of each will help you decide which would be the better choice for you.

Amplifiers and mixers are items that I receive a lot of questions about. Amp/mixer combinations, as well as powered mixers will be explained. Finding the right fit for your personal situation will be the goal.

Should you go with wireless microphones or would the wired type be better? I'll give you the information that you need to make the right decision.

Choosing just the right speakers for your home karaoke system can be confusing. Passive speakers, powered speakers, power handling, and other considerations will be clearly explained.

Karaoke music can easily become the most expensive component of any karaoke system. We'll explore ways for you to obtain a good selection of music as economically as possible.

Putting component systems together as well as easily portable systems will be covered. We'll discuss whether an all-in-one system might be a better option for your needs.

Hopefully you will find all the home karaoke information you were looking for here. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Happy Singing!
